4 Ways to Strengthen Brand Awareness at Trade Show Events

Attending a trade show is an excellent way to network with consumers, other entrepreneurs, suppliers, manufacturers, and other influencers in your industry. After setting up your booth, you’ll have the opportunity to display your brand and products/services to anyone passing by, and depending on the event, you might even get the opportunity to give a presentation to everyone in attendance. Of course, with great opportunity comes great responsibility and the burden of making sure everything goes as planned. Perhaps the biggest objective you should be working towards is increasing brand awareness. Ideally, you’ll want your brand to be more well-known coming out of the event than it was going in. To achieve that, try heeding the following four tips:

1. Make Your Displays and Signage the Easiest to Spot

While it might not always be possible to have the best displays and signage (you could be competing with some pretty big players), you should at least strive to be on par with the best. Pop up trade show displays can give you a visual edge that will help catch the attention of passersby. Likewise, large displays and projectors can provide optimal surfaces to display your brand’s media content. H3 Graphics has some good examples of displays and signage geared towards trade shows.

2. Give Away Promotional Materials Like Candy

Go to the event fully stocked with enough knickknacks and memorabilia to supply everyone in attendance, and try to leave with none of it left. While that might seem like real world spam at first glance, the vast majority of the people in attendance aren’t going to be mad at you for giving them free stuff. Branded items like mugs, t-shirts, hats, keychains, bumper stickers, and bags are just a few examples of things you can give away to ensure that a huge number of people will be taking your brand’s name, logo, and slogan home with them for other people to see.

3. Hold a Contest or Drawing

Sponsoring a giveaway or drawing is a highly effective way to get people to take notice of your brand, especially if the prize is something worthwhile. An example of a prize package idea might include a valuable consumer electronics product (i.e. – a game system or large TV) combined with a year’s worth of free service or X amount of free products from your company. This takes care of two birds with one stone – you’re giving them the chance to take home something they want, while also sending them home with something you want them to have – a piece of your brand.

4. Let People Try Your Products or Services

Experiences are the best way to build memories, so give your booth visitors something to remember your brand and its products/services by with a free trial. Have your booth set up to accommodate at least 10 visitors at a time with a free trial of whatever you’re offering. Ideally, you’ll want to have at least 1 staff member for every 2 visitors that approaches your booth. If you can get a line to build up that’s even better, as other people will start taking notice and deduce that there must be something of interest at your booth.

Wear Company Branded Attire

Finally, keep in mind that people can be forgetful. To keep your brand name emblazoned in their mind after their initial encounter with your company at the trade show, make sure all of your staff are wearing t-shirts and/or hats that have the business name, logo, and slogan printed clearly on them.
